Grade 9 Life Orientation is the final year of the Senior Phase and consolidates self-awareness, social responsibility and physical literacy at a level that prepares learners for the FET Phase. The CAPS curriculum addresses subject and career choice, social justice, personal development and physical education with a maturity appropriate to the transition to Grade 10. Learners develop a personal development plan for the FET Phase.

Subject choice is the most important decision in Grade 9. Research what subjects each career pathway requires before choosing. Talk to your school counsellor.
LO tests reward specific SA facts. Know the names of relevant acts (Employment Equity Act), statistics (GBV rates, HIV prevalence) and organisations (NSFAS).
PE is assessed every lesson. Attendance, effort and correct technique all count. Treat every PE lesson as an assessment.
